ICF Pools

Durable, Energy Efficient Pools for the Whole Family to Enjoy

The pools we build offer long-term durability, energy efficiency, and a comfortable swimming experience—perfect for families looking for a low-maintenance, high-performance pool.

Learn more about how ICF pools work, and why they’re the smartest choice for a long-lasting pool in Colorado.

What is an ICF Pool?

ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) is a construction method that uses stacked hollow foam blocks to form the shape of the structure, which is then filled with concrete for strength. ICF creates a more durable, energy-efficient, and longer-lasting swimming pool compared to traditional gunite or fiberglass.

The insulating foam helps retain heat, reducing your energy costs and keeping your water comfortable for longer. Plus, the solid construction resists cracks, leaks, and weather damage, making it a low-maintenance option that will last for many years.

The Benefits of ICF for Pools

They’re Energy Efficient

Get more swim time without turning up the heat. Because of ICF’s superior insulation ability, less heat is lost through the pool’s sides and bottom. This means more pool days and comfortable water temps without sending your energy bill through the roof.

They’re Durable

Built with reinforced concrete, ICF pools resist cracks, and structural damage better than traditional pools. Their insulated design withstands Colorado’s freeze-thaw cycles, shifting soil, and extreme temperatures. Plus with an ecoFINISH® coating, our pools are seamless and watertight, and far less likely to develop leaks than traditional pools.

They Keep Water Temps Consistent

Mornings and evenings in Colorado can be chilly, but ICF insulation helps your pool hold heat through the day, so the water stays comfortable even when the air temperature drops. Less heat loss means more enjoyable swims and lower heating costs.

They’re Low-Maintenance

The seamless, leak-resistant design of an ICF pool minimizes cracks and costly repairs, while the smooth, non-porous finish prevents algae buildup and staining. Plus, superior insulation keeps water temperatures more stable, so you won’t have to adjust chemicals as often, making your pool easier to maintain year-round.

They Last Longer

Unlike traditional pools that may need resurfacing or structural repairs after 10-15 years, ICF pools are built to last 50+ years with minimal maintenance.

How it Works: ICF Pool Construction

Design & Layout

After a walkthrough of your property and a consultation to discuss your vision, we begin developing a detailed pool layout that works with your space and your needs. We’ll talk through design features like custom entries, waterfalls, or stone elements. Choose from our pre-designed pools or work with us to create a custom layout, complete with built-in entry, sunshelves, or benches. We offer 21 pool finish colors to choose from, plus optional lighting, deck jet fountains, and other features.

Every design is planned around the insulated concrete form (ICF) structure for an energy-efficient pool that’s built to stand the test of time.

Before excavation begins, we conduct a soil test to understand the stability of the area where your ICF pool will be built. This step identifies any potential issues like expansive clay soils, common along the Front Range, or high water tables. Based on these results, we design your pool’s foundation to prevent future settling or structural problems.

Once the soil test is complete we move into excavation to dig out the pool area according to the approved design and depth. A layer of gravel is installed to aid with drainage and provide a stable base for the concrete slab.

We compact and level the excavation, then build a stable foundation to support the ICF walls and resist movement over time. Your foundation type—footings or caissons—is determined by the engineer according to the results of your soil test.

We mark the layout for the pool walls with a chalk line, then lay the Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) for a continuous layer of installation under the slab. Then, the ICF wall forms are placed. This reduces heat loss from all sides of the pool, improving energy efficiency and helping you maintain comfortable water temperatures all season long.

We install the electrical and plumbing systems required for your pool, including pool automation systems, pumps, filtration, and more.

After laying the ICF forms under the pool floor, we begin pouring the concrete slab. This creates a solid foundation that ties into the pool’s structure. Next, we set up the ICF wall forms, ensuring they are securely positioned and reinforced. Once everything is in place, we pour concrete into the forms, forming the walls that will support your pool.

The final step is applying your chosen pool finish. We offer multiple different options, including ecoFINISH®, PebbleTec or plaster. Our preferred method, ecoFINISH®, is applied using a heated spray system, bonding directly to the surface for a smooth, long-lasting finish.

  • UV-resistance, allowing the finish to be above the water line and removing the need for a tile line
  • Fast application
  • Instantly ready for use
  • Shields against chipping, peeling, and stains
  • Maintains a neutral pH, reducing the need for harsh chemicals
As part of a full pool experience, we install additional water features, stone elements, and custom decking according to the approved design. We’re happy to coordinate with your landscaping team to make sure everything flows together and fits your overall vision.
